almost every generation had that one girl, But I think Hermoine stands out because people literally grew up with her. Every other generation had a one off movie or so with a hot girl but nothing like what Milennials got from Hermoine.

The AI has some slight influences from Akabur but it been toned down ALOT to avoid recreating his style since im not comfortable hijacking his artstyle. I wanted to make it visually distinct. I don't wanna offer a replacement for Akaburs unique art, but rather create something new. Even the design for Hermione herself might change a bit since i feel the hair makes it too much like his style.
I think she looks fine.

But dear god, please, punctuation, capitalization, spelling, typos... spellcheck this first. "sittind" is just, not okay... capitalize "I" in particular!

(And I'm sorry if English isn't your first language; from the type of mistakes it seems like the mistakes someone whose first language IS English would make...)

English isn't my first language no, but these mistakes are present because for the first part I wrote everything in Visual studio with no proofreading. It was just meant to move the game forward so I could showcase more content. All the other writing I have done for the game after the fact has been written with a spellchecker and proofreading. The entire first part of the game is going to change a lot and ill put more effort in my writing and grammar for the content that I know will make it further along in the development.

I was mostly memeing, tbh. Raceswaps are, at best, a lateral move. But everyone treats them like they're horrible character murders when most of the time they're just unnecessary. Hermione being black doesn't change anything significant about her character, Hermione isn't defined by being a white girl.

It's like people reacting with shock and disgust at the thought of someone leaving palm tree leaves on the sidewalk to prickle peoples' feet when there are guys out there putting fucking landmines in their front lawn.

That said, the original Witch Trainer had Cho Chang, who's canonically asian, and if you're genderswapping characters I think Seamus from the movies was black. You could also go the OC route if you wanted to.
I grew up with the movies so Hermione in my mind will always use Emma Watson as a baseline. I can't really picture her in any other way. If I have time to expand the selection of girls with some OC I will absolutely try to get a diverse cast. I want to make something for everyone.

As much as I'm conflicted about using what's clearly akabur's art to either train or configure this AI, I have to say that having more of "his work" to enjoy feels nice.

Maybe what i'm going to write here is controversial but i'll use your comment to give my take about this matter because i see this a recurring topic/criticism (and will be even more recurring in future, we are entering into AI age afterall).
I don't really see where is the problem: Akabur's work were used to train the AI but i like the art of this game and judge it more an evolution of original instead of a bad copy of it, that can only be a good thing in the same way that an old movie AI upscaled can be better than the original format.
I could agree on these doubts if the dev was trying to hide the fact this game uses AI art trying to deceive us into thinking that was drawn totally by himself but he was quite frank about that so i don't have any problem if he uses Akabur style or whichever else.
Of course if he would be a true gentleman could write somewhere in the game something like "thanks master Akabur for the inspiration to make this game" or something like that but tbh it's totally up to him and even if he doesn't i wouldn't judge that bad because in a way or another Akabur one came first and will always be aknowledged as the "original one".

All in all Akabur made a lot of great games and sometime in the future somebody else will improve them in art and gameplay, it's only natural. This could be the right project or not, only time will tell us.

looks like akabur
Of course that's what it is. The dude just took a successful concept, no ideas, and is trying to make money. The only thing that's clear is that no one will pay for AI. People aren't stupid, they pay for work or ideas. We're not seeing anything here.

Why do people like to train Hermione so much? I swear this is like at least the 5th game I've seen throughout the years where you train Hermione. She graduated from Hogwarts 15 years ago, leave the poor girl alone.
They are many reason.
Akabur pave the way, that for sure. But we musn't forget the popularity of the novel. I mean i'm not the only one who've read the books when i was a kid, and other should at least have seen some of the movies.

Also It's a school setting, which is popular and easier to make with a magic setting. And her design is appealing, at least to me.

As for the game here, i like what i saw, i don't mind at all a remake of hermione trainer but i'm curious of what will the gameplay be. I hope we will be able to customize a bit hermione, because it's something i like to do in the original game or in the silver version. Good luck here!

The fact akabur wasn't compensated for this misuse of his work. Not only did he spend years of his life developing his skills, but the license in which his work was made available to the public wasn't respected.
You might be forgetting that Akabur received a cease and desist letter from WB that led to the title change from Hermione Trainer to Witch Trainer. He was then quick to bail on the project. My guess is that the C&D spooked him paired with the mob being a little ruthless on the gameplay (rightfully so) leading to his stepping away from the project.

The "free" public release protected him as it is hard to claim damages from a free product and the double edge sword would be that WB/JK Rowling would have to admit to wanting to create a adult content/porn game as well if they wanted to say it wasn't transformative

I just love Harry potter.
Its one of my favourite fictional worlds.
Dont forget that this is my first game ever in any capacity. I do want to make games with my own world and characters too, but i want to get some experience first.
I might not care for Harry Potter or a fan while I'm a Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, Halo, Mass Effect, Resident Evil, Super Mario, the Legend of Zelda, DC, Marvel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers fan but I love any game here that has Hermione/Emma Watson in it like Akabur's Witch Trainer (even the Silver Mod), Innocent Witches, With Hermione or Virt-A-Mate. I just find her fucking hot, sexy and cute. I would love to see her in more games and I'm glad you're making another one with her in it!:devilish::LOL:

The *only reason* we have any sort of creative work is copyright protection. Akabur might not have sold his work directly, but he had a patreon when he made a killing with his art. Enough he basically said you should help another creator instead of him.
Oh please get out of here! You're being ridiculous. Hermione in this game isn't a copy of the one in Akabur's Witch Trainer (or in the Silver Mod) at all. You can tell they're different. Does Innocent Witches or With Hermione any ring bell to you? There are multiple games that features Hermione. Yeah there's definitely a copyright infringement here. :ROFLMAO:

The fact that JKR wasn't compensated for the misuses of her work. Not only did she spend years of her life developing her skills, but the license in which her work was made available to the public wasn't respected.

Also, we are on f95, moral high ground and copyright laws, huh...

Now shut the fuck up, your on a pirate porn website, retard.

No ones getting hurt here, dev is doing good work, the ppl want it or it would not get 11 pages for v0.01 and 3,5 stars.
ppl wanted more and Akbur said pass, now we got a new person and I say, good, great even. Let the man cook.
It's called parody. It's protected under fair use.

Considering I've either bought or become a patron of most of the games I've initially played through this forum, your point is mute. Only ones I haven't actually purchased are ones not officially translated. Which is kind of a bummer, but mostly on the publisher refusing to accept that there's a market here.

Definitely very different. That's why it's an AI model, because it wasn't based off of existing work. That's also why everybody here who has played the original immediately recognized where it is from.

I really don't mind inspiration being taken. Hell, basically every piece of art is inspired by something in one way or another. But this isn't inspired. It's a computer. And one trained in an exceedingly small set of data in an area known for requiring huge amounts of data to both not just replicate what it was fed and actually be able to generate newish material.

I have a question:

Is this the end of version 0.0.0.1 ?
or have I overlooked something?

Hermione Granger in the movies didn't really have bangs except for when she was vry young. She was also pretty rail thin and petite. Akabur leaned into a design with bangs and a much fuller figure for his depiction of Hermione. So when I saw the game, it was the physical appearance of Hermione rather than her presence in the title that made me immediately think of Akabur.

The character here doesn't look like an interpretation of Hermione Granger as described in the books or even of Emma Watson as some other games have attempted. The starting point here was clearly Akabur.
